III – FALL/ WINTER 25 TRENDS

Ladies & Gentleman,

twice a year gathers the entire luxury fashion industry in Florence. In January 2025 at the city´s iconic Fortezza da Basso, Pitti Uomo reaffirmed it´s status as the leading global stage for menswear. This exposition is not only the biggest & most important in the world, it´s heritage speaks for itself, as this fair brings people from all around the world together since 5 decades. This years edition masterfully blended heritage craftsmanship with cutting-edge innovation. Here are the Top 5 menswear trends for FW25:

1. Denim everywhere

It really is a successor of what was a big trend in the previous spring summer 2025 collection. Denim is back. And what a comeback it is. Denim nearly overtook every category. It ranges from denim trousers itself to shirts, jackets & even coats. The modern day cowboy look is more present than ever. Wide bootleg denims, denim jackets as a replacement for a formal jacket or an oversized denim coat as a fashion statement. In my opinion a very important trend – leading menswear back to more masculine fabrics, silhouettes & overall looks. I really love every characteristic that this fabric brings along, but most of all the variety in terms of creating formal looks. Imagine Clint Eastwood nowadays. That’s what masculine heritage can look like.

2. Embracing Quiet Luxury

Quiet Luxury really isn’t a new trend, but yet after all this years on top of every trend report it still managed to hold it´s significance within the menswear fashion. Especially younger customers really seem to like the approach of understated elegance & impeccable tailoring. Less branding, more focus on the highest qualities & sort after material, is what gains importance to younger customers in the more urban areas & big cities. The idea of embracing the iconic US east coast IVY League looks is something that gives this timeless fashion a never before seen renaissance.

3. Earthy Tones & Textures

Earth-inspired colours dominated the color palette which underlines the focus on rich qualities & masculine tones. Pantone Colour of the Year 2025 is Mousse Mocha & this goes perfectly with typical formal menswear colours like navy, white & camel. A colour palette which works fantastically with textured wool, cashmere layers & patterned fabrics, as these tones add depth & warmth to every winter wardrobe. We do tend to associate the colours of rich natural elements like wood or marble with valuable characteristics. That’s why this colour palette works perfectly in the formal menswear & quiet luxury trend.

4. Street Style: A Blend of Tradition and Innovation

In every year the streets of Florence transform into a runway, showcasing the most important trends by some of the best dressed men from the planet. A mix of formal tailoring & contemporary flair dominates the city. When very formal Italian fashion meets a younger clientele, it often creates a creative blend between both worlds, classic & contemp. Power Tailoring – the use of formal fabrics & qualities finished in oversize silhouettes probably is one of the most important subtrends evolving in Fall/Winter 2025 and will continue to widen its influence & presence within the very next seasons.

5. Loafers, Loafers & Loafers

What seems like the perfect choice for spring or summer, was seen this January pretty much everywhere. The Penny Loafer or Tassel Loafer are the favourite formal menswear shoes when we are talking warm temperatures. Thin, breathable leather soles & soft upper leather in various colour-ways make these the number one choice in formal menswear fashion. But this was in January – even Florence was like 5 degrees Celsius & we came to see the upcoming fashion trends for FW25. So that was pretty unexpected. Instead of Chelsea Boots or Leather Boots this year almost everywhere label and attendance presented or showed up with some sort of loafers. They all had two things in common: soles with huge profiles – so even on snowy days you cannot slip & thicker leather, sometimes lined with shearling, so you never get cold feet. That was definitely not a reinvention of the loafer – yet in this quantity we’ve not seen it in a menswear fall winter assortment that often. So do you have winter loafers?

The Pitti Uomo is not a public event. Only labels, designers, buyers & retailers are allowed into the prestigious walls of Fortezza da Basso. This year more than 13.300 buyers attended the exposition. It is probably the most relevant menswear networking event worldwide. I am excited to return in June.

Best regards,

Paul Körner
